Ann Smith

Mrs. Ann Rivers Smith, 81, formerly of Pageland, South Carolina, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 2, 2026. Mrs. Smith was born February 24, 1945, in Pageland, South Carolina, to the late Genevieve Kelly Rivers and Fred William Rivers.

Ann is lovingly remembered by her husband, Fred Daniel Smith, daughter Melissa Anne Mangum of Holden Beach, NC; sons, John Kelly Mangum and wife Tami of Garden City, SC and Michael Chad Mangum and wife, Kelly Sue of Greenville, SC, stepson Scott Daniel Smith of Bolivia, NC: sister Sylvia Rivers Barber of Beaufort, SC; brother Bruce Edward Rivers of Pageland, SC; grandsons, John Lake Mangum of Greenville, SC, Joshua Robert Mangum of Conway, SC and devoted lifelong best friend Kathryn Wilson Surles of Fort Mill, SC. Survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Those preceding her in death were her parents, brother Charles Jerry Rivers, grandson, David Adam Mangum and brother in-law, James "Jim" Barber.

Ann will be long remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend by all who had her in their lives. She always put the needs of others before her own. She was the kind of friend who always listened and provided words of encouragement.

Ann loved to travel, especially on cruises. Ann was the matriarch of her family, and her favorite pastime was preparing meals for her family. The kitchen table was the heart of her home. She had a gift for making everyone feel like family. Her happiest moments were spent surrounded by the people she loved most. Ann’s kindness felt genuine, and the way she cared for others left an impression that will never fade. She was a beautiful soul and a true blessing for all who loved her.

Private Cremation Arrangements as per family request. Remembrance of her life will be held at a later time.

Arrangements are entrusted to White Funeral and Cremation Service, Shallotte Chapel
