Arlene Joan (Shaffer) Hallman

Arlene was born August 26, 1935 in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Byron and Irene Shaffer. During her youth she participated in many roller skating shows. She retired from Dana Corporation as a Receiving Clerk after 32 years. After retirement she and her husband moved to Brunswick County. She volunteered as a clerk for Brunswick Baptist Association for many years and was active in the Holden Beach Seniors Club. She and her husband spent many years in the ministry visiting and singing at local nursing homes. They were members of Gospel Center Baptist Church and Calvary Baptist Church. Her hobbies included baking and a love of animals including numerous dogs and cats. Preceding her in death was her son Paul Byron Schatz and son in law Ralph E. Widner, Sr.

Survivors include her loving husband of 53 years, D. Richard Hallman; children, Paulette Varnam and husband Terry, Cynthia Widner, Sherrie Varner and husband Dale, Craig Hallman and wife Jennifer, Glenn Hallman and wife Gina, and Dwight Hallman and wife Jill; 24 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Monday, October 18, 2021 at eleven o'clock in the morning at White Funeral and Cremation Service, 3660 Express Drive, Shallotte, North Carolina with Reverend Devon Varnam officiating. Burial will follow in Gospel Center Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Gospel Center Baptist Church or Calvary Baptist Church.
