Bruce Heuler Sr., of Shallotte, North Carolina, peacefully passed away on July 13, 2026, at the age of 79, surrounded by the love of his family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on January 18, 1947, in Brooklyn, New York, Bruce lived a life defined by honor, service, and devotion to his family. He proudly served his country as a United States Marine, answering the call of duty during the Vietnam and later serving during Desert Storm. Following his military service, Bruce dedicated his career to protecting others as a Bergen County, Sheriff's Officer, earning the respect of his fellow officers and the communities he served. He also proudly served as a member of the Allendale, New Jersey Fire Department, continuing his lifelong commitment to helping others.
Bruce married the love of his life, Beatrice, beginning a remarkable partnership that spanned 57 years. Together they built a home filled with love, laughter, strength, and unwavering support through every chapter of life.
Bruce's greatest joy was his family. He was a devoted husband, a proud father, and an adoring grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife, Beatrice Heuler; his sons, Brian Heuler and his wife, Linda, and Bruce Heuler Jr. and his wife, Carla; and his treasured grandchildren, Sydney, Andrew, Rebecca, and Meghan. Each of them was a source of immense pride and happiness in his life.
When he wasn't serving his country or community, Bruce found peace on the golf course and along the water with a fishing rod in hand. Whether enjoying a round of golf with friends or spending a quiet day fishing, he appreciated life's simple pleasures and treasured every moment spent with those he loved.
Bruce was known for his quiet strength, unwavering integrity, and steadfast commitment to doing what was right. He faced every challenge—including his final battle—with courage, dignity, and determination. His example of resilience and selflessness will continue to inspire all who knew him.
Though his physical presence is gone, Bruce's legacy lives on through the family he loved so deeply and the countless lives he touched through his service, kindness, and friendship.
In the Heuler family, they never say "goodbye." Instead, they simply say, "See you later." It is a reflection of their faith, their love, and the promise that this farewell is not forever.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to a veterans' organization or a cancer charity of your choice in Bruce's honor.
Semper Fidelis. Rest easy, Marine. Your watch is over. We will see you later.
