Clyde William J. "Grumpy" Barber

“GRUMPY”

Clyde William J. “Grumpy” Barber, age 91, 19 days shy of 92, of Shallotte, NC passed away on Monday November 9, 2015.

He was born in Gaston County on November 28, 1923 the son of the late, William C. Barber and Jennie W. Barber, also was preceded in death by his wife, Helen M. Barber.

Mr. Barber was a veteran of the United Sates Army during World War II.

Surviving are two sons, Steve Barber and wife, Sheila of Gastonia, NC and Terry Barber and wife, Cindy of Mt Holly, NC; a step-daughter, Betty Richardson and husband, JD of Shallotte, NC; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and many other family members.

Funeral services will be held at 2PM Thursday November 12, 2015 at Sharon Free Will Baptist Church in Gastonia, NC by Pastor Odell Cook Officiating, family to receive friends an hour prior to the service at the church.

Interment will follow in Hill Crest Cemetery in Mount Holly, NC.

The family will receive family and friends from 6 to 8 PM on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at White Funeral and Cremation Service Shallotte Chapel, 3660 Express Drive Shallotte, NC.
