Born on January 23, 1962, in Whiteville, North Carolina, Donnie was the son of the late Rudolph FormyDuval and Lela Mae Milliken.
Donnie was a gifted craftsman whose talents were evident in every project he touched. A skilled cabinet builder and trim carpenter, he had an incredible ability to envision something and bring it to life with remarkable precision and craftsmanship. Whether building custom cabinetry, creating something from scratch, or solving a difficult problem, there seemed to be nothing he couldn't make.
Outside of his work, Donnie was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting deer and turkeys, spending time fishing, and sharing his passion for the outdoors with family and friends. He was also a talented taxidermist, combining his appreciation for wildlife with exceptional artistic skill. Whether he was in the woods or on the water, he found peace in nature.
Above all, Donnie was devoted to his family. Next month, he and his beloved wife, Angi FormyDuval, would have celebrated 44 years of marriage. Together they built a life centered on love, hard work, laughter, and unwavering devotion to one another.
He is survived by his loving wife, Angi FormyDuval; his sons, Gabe FormyDuval and Corey FormyDuval (Cierra); and the grandchildren who lovingly knew him as Papa: Re-L Wiley FormyDuval, Kaede FormyDuval, Avyn FormyDuval, Haizley FormyDuval, Hunter FormyDuval, and the eagerly awaited arrival of Isla Sue FormyDuval. He also leaves behind his faithful German Shorthaired Pointer, Sadie, who was never far from his side.
In addition, he is survived by his sister-in-law, Lynette Clendenin (Dink), whom he loved as a little sister and cherished as family. He also shared a special bond with her children, Zeke Canady (Hannah) and Blair Grissett (Shaunn), whom he loved dearly and helped raise as his own.
He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Dale FormyDuval (Lynn), Lynn Neville, Kevin Piver (Carole), Donna Lewis, and Linda Chappell (Bo); along with many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who held a special place in his heart.
In addition to his parents, Donnie was preceded in death by his sisters, Sharon Hewett, Jeanette Bullard, and Joyce McDowell.
Donnie will be remembered for his quiet strength, generous heart, unwavering work ethic, and extraordinary talent. If he could imagine it, he could build it. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, share his knowledge, or build something for someone in need. His craftsmanship, kindness, and love for his family defined the man he was.
His legacy will live on in his family, in every piece of craftsmanship that bears his touch, in the woods and waters he loved, and in the countless lives he touched through his generosity, skill, and love.
Honoring Donnie's wishes, the family will celebrate his life privately, but friends and family are welcome to visit at our home. No public services are planned at this time.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to an organization that supports youth hunting, fishing, and outdoor conservation, or, even more fitting, honor Donnie's memory by taking a child hunting or fishing. Share your time, your knowledge, and your love of the outdoors with the next generation—you'll find it's as much a gift to yourself as it is to them. A special thank you to little William Grissett for taking Donnie hunting these last few years.
