He was born in Southport, NC on July 7, 1947 the son of the late Rufus Galloway Hewett and Eva Pearl Stanley. He was preceded in death by a nephew, Bryan B. Owens.
Eddie was a veteran of the United States Navy during the Vietnam Conflict. He worked with DuPont Chemical Plant for many years until his retirement. Eddie loved life and a lifetime resident of Brunswick County and a member of Sabbath Home Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Margurita C. Hewett of the home; a daughter, Allison Tyson of Wilmington; a granddaughter, Taylor Tanton also of Wilmington; a brother, Freddy Hewett and wife, Diane of Shallotte; two sisters, Donna Prince also of Shallotte, and Kathy Owens and husband, Ben of Supply; several loved nieces and nephews and grandnieces and one grandnephew; two sister in laws, Debbie and husband Dennis Chapman, and Sharon Brown, both of Greenville, TN.; one brother in law, Wayne A. Chandler of Nashville, TN.; a very special friend for many years, Gene Hardee of Ocean Isle Beach, NC; and many special friends.
A celebration of his life will be held at one o’clock on Saturday September 29, 2018 at Jennies Branch Baptist Church by Reverend Landis Lancaster and Reverend Britten Taylor officiating.
Burial will follow in the Jennies Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.
There will be time of visitation from 11:30am – 1:00 pm prior to the service at the church.
