

He was born in Radford, VA on February 19, 1948, the son of the late Selden H. Harris, Jr. and Evelyn V. Bourne Harris.
Mr. Harris attended Allegany High School in LaVale, MD where he was an outstanding athlete in football and wrestling. He was a graduate of East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, TN, where he received both his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees. After being employed by the Fulton County Educational System in Atlanta, GA, and the Public Health Department in Rutherfordton, NC, Mr. Harris moved his family to Shallotte, NC in 1977 where he was employed as the Public Health Director for Brunswick County before founding Comprehensive Home Health Care in 1981. Mr. Harris began with 13 employees in a tiny house in Supply, NC and expanded his business to include almost 800 employees in 14 offices in both North and South Carolina.
Surviving are his children, Allison H. Williams and husband, Richard of Shallotte, NC, KD Harris Diallo and husband, Ibrahima of Brooklyn, NY, Sawyer Covington, Mason Covington both of Mebane, NC and step-daughter, Ashley Howerton and family of Greensboro, NC; two brothers, Selden Harris, III and wife, Dianna of Brandenburg, KY and Charles “Brownie” Harris of Wilmington, NC; four grandchildren, Morgan P. Williams, Mackenzie A. Williams, Sylla M. Diallo and FatimatouHaiz Diallo; several nieces and nephews and many special friends.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Camp United Methodist Church, Shallotte, NC.
