I miss Lowell tremendously.  He sold me my house and we became good friends.  My Mom and Dad thought highly of Lowell.  I would go  over to his house and sit with he and Shirley and talk for hours about everything.  He certainly knew a lot.

Although we all were in the furniture business, my wife and I met Lowell Spivey when we bought our house at OIB in 1997.  We became friends with he and Shirley and visited often. He became instant friends with my mom and dad as well as our children.  Lowell was a gentleman and very easy going.  Most helpful in all aspects of OIB and owning a house there.  He seemed to know most people and I never heard anyone say a negative word about Lowell Spivey.  We miss him dearly.

My family rented a condo at Sand Dwellers II in Ocean Isle Beach from Lowell Spivey for almost 20 years. 

During the biggest years there were about 50 of us who vacationed at Sand Dwellers during the third week of June. 

My friends & relatives would travel from Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana & North Carolina. 

We all have many fond memories of our time at Ocean Isle Beach.

I am so  sorry to hear of the loss of Lowell.  I worked with him at Island Realty and really enjoyed working with Lowell and seeing Shirley also.  We would work together on Sundays and we would chat the whole time and had many laughs together.  He will be missed for sure.  My thoughts are with Shirley and the entire family.  You are in my Prayers.

I first met Lowell Spivey when he sold me the house I’m in at Ocean Isle Beach.  We became friends almost instantly.  My wife and I are in the furniture business and being from Hickory and Lowell working in the finishing industry and being from Lenoir, we had a lot in common.  He was always helpful with information and peoples names.  He would pick me up and go show me the properties he owned on and off the Island.  He became friends to my parents when they came to the beach and he would spend time talking with them and just visiting.  He called me several weeks ago just to chat and tell me of he and Shirley’s plan to sell the house on Wilmington Street and move to a retirement village where they could get assisted care. I will miss him dearly.   Bob
