Mr. Flor was born June 20, 1934 son of the late Michael Flor, Jr. and Adele Hallbeck Flor. He retired from the United States Marine Corps in 1984 after serving thirty years including two terms in Vietnam and during the Korean War. After his retirement, he worked twenty years at Brunswick Hospital. “Papa George” as he was known, was a family man. He always put family first and always had a smile on his face. Every Sunday he could be found watching the race with a cold beer in his hand. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Beulah Lee Flor, son, George Carl Flor; and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his brothers, Bob Flor of Colorado and Dave Flor of Minnesota; sister, Sheila Kunkel of Minnesota; step children, Reverend Maurice Milligan of Shallotte, Millie Tripp of Shallotte, and Mickey Chadwick of Florida; grandsons, Japheth Hester of Shallotte, Jordan Flor of Holden Beach, Jeremy Flor of Holden Beach, and Michael Flor of Shallotte; several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services with military honors will be Thursday, January 21, 2021 at two o’clock in the afternoon at Gurganus Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior, from one until two o’clock at the cemetery.
