Mrs. Holden was born in Brunswick County on May 16, 1922 and was the daughter of the late John C. Fulbright and Ada Mae Clemmons Fulbright. She was the wife of the late Charlie Obbie Holden and was preceded in death by two sons, Jerry Wayne Holden and Stephen Dale Holden. She was the oldest member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. She loved the church and her church family. She enjoyed visiting and talking with friends. She and Obbie enjoyed many years of square dancing and their time in the garden growing vegetables and flowers. Marie was devoted to her sons’ education, scouting and church. She and her son Jerry spent many enjoyable hours on ancestry discovering new cousins.
She is survived by her son, Charles Gerald “Jerry” Holden and wife Helen Fuller Holden of Whiteville and family, Grandchildren, Charles Fulbright Holden of Raleigh, Helen Bryan Holden of Whiteville and great granddaughter, Helen Marie Holden Hinton of Whiteville; Stephen’s family, grandson, Stephen Tanner Holden of Kill Devil Hills, NC, great grandchildren, Stephen Banks Holden, Perry Jane Holden, Ada Jane Holden; granddaughter, Frazier Dianne Holden and great granddaughter, Olivia Mae Creech.
Graveside funeral services will be Thursday December 23, 2021 at one o’clock in the afternoon at the Georgetown-Holden Cemetery located on Stanley Road in Supply with Reverend Jesse Mooney officiating.
