Gladys Stanley

Gladys was born in Supply, N.C. on August 20, 1935, and was the daughter of the late Alton and Myra Clemmons Hewett. She was a graduate of Shallotte High School in 1953 and married her sweetheart Clyde Stanley. She attended many class reunions throughout the years. Gladys enjoyed spending her summers in Boone, N.C. She was a faithful member of Jennies Branch Baptist Church where she was a member of the Good Samaritan Sunday School Class. She worked as a clerk at Brunswick County Health Department until her retirement. Ms. Stanley was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Stanley, grandson, Garrett Galloway, a brother, Clinton Hewett and two sisters, Alberta McCranie and Louise Bolen.

She is survived by two daughters, Sharon Owens and husband Glenn of Bolivia and Greta Galloway and husband Vin of Nakina; grandchildren, Jennifer Caison and husband Eric of Bolivia, Bryan Owens and wife Holly of Bolivia and Ashley Blakley and husband Jason of Jonesborough, TN.; great grandchildren, Ella Caison, Jackson Caison, Levi Owens and Charlotte Blakley; and a sister, Margaret McCranie of Little River, S.C.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday July 29, 2026, at eleven o'clock in the morning at Jennies Branch Baptist Church with Reverend Mark Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Jennies Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, July 28th from six o’clock until eight o’clock in the evening at White Funeral and Cremation Service, 4690 East Coast Lane, Shallotte and other times from the residence.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be directed to Jennies Branch Baptist Church, 5256 Beach Drive, Shallotte, N.C. 28470.
