Gregory Earl Cole September 17, 1951-November 5, 2020

Greg Cole, 69, from Supply, NC, passed away on November 5 unexpectedly.

Greg was born on September 17, 1951 in Durham, NC to James and Georgia Cole. He retired from Durham Public Schools after thirty years of service. He was active in his church and choir in Shallotte, NC at Camp United Methodist Church, and loved his yearly meetings in Boone, NC with his alumni at Appalachian State University with the Baptist Student Union.

He loved the breeze on a nice day at the beach and he had his favorite spot under a tree at the pool. He also would head to the west side of the state every year to spend time in the mountains with friends. He loved gardening and the joy of life that flowers and greenery provided. Most of all he loved his family and friends. His kind and tender soul always would light up any room he was present in and will continue to live in each of us.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Georgia Cole.

He is survived by his daughter, Meredith Prutzman (Jayson) of Graham, NC; son, Brian Cole (Amy) of Franklinton, NC; grandson, Cole Prutzman. He also was an awesome grandpaw to nine fur babies and his sidekick fur baby, Cody.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1pm on Monday, November 23, 2020 at Grey Stone Baptist Church in Durham, NC.

Flowers are still welcome; In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Cole Prutzman “college fund” PO Box 1090 Hillsborough, NC 27278 Attn: Deonza Clark

Caring thoughts and prayers to Greg’s family, Meredith, Brian, Cole and others. Greg was a friend that I had the pleasure of knowing through the years. Greg was in my first Sunday School class which was a class for Grades 4th, 5th, and 6th and I believe he was a 6th Grader at that time!

Greg was a loyal client and friend of mine! He always came to get his pedicures every 6 weeks. I enjoyed getting to know Greg over the years. His kind words his awesome hugs and of course his very kind spirit! We shared many stories of family and life stories along the way. I had the privilege of meeting his daughter and his grandson Cole of which he was so smitten with. We also gathered with other friends attending choir functions and plays at Christmas time. We shared radio podcast suggestions and good movies on what to watch on Netflix etc and then discussed what we liked about them.
A few things I could say about Greg is he was the real deal. 😊Always sincere, always giving..always knew he loved Jesus and walked out his faith in Love. He loved and cherished his family members.
May God be with you my friend. See you in heaven one day.

My heart is filled with sadness for all who loved Greg esp. you two, Brian and Meredith, and your family. His life was too short. He was a good friend and member of Watts St. Baptist Church where I worked with him on many projects over at least 5 years. He was dependable, reliable, and full of life and humor. I knew he could be counted on for almost any task from serving food at a reception, cleaning the church when the custodian's wife died, to offering comfort and care to ones who were distressed. Your dad will be one of those shining stars in heaven. I pray that you will feel the comfort and love of family and friends surround you during the days and weeks and months ahead.

We had 30 years together some good some bad but our biggest achievement was our children Meredith and Brian. Rest In Peace until we meet again and look after our children and precious grandson Cole.

Meredith, Brian and family,
We're so sorry to hear about your dad. Our hearts ache for you and want you to know how much we cared for him. He was a dear friend and always pleasant to be around. We have missed him since he moved but know he loved the beach, and I know he loved you guys so much. I hope with time, the memories you have of him will overshadow the grief and pain you're experiencing now. Much love to all of your family, Tammie and Glenn Arrington.

Greg was a life long friend to Ralph and I . We went to Young marrieds class at GreyStone and sang in the choir together . Our children grew up together . We went on Mountain trips and beach trips together as couples . Greg and I would talk for hours about everything . We would laugh like crazy and yes we even did some crying together . I will always love Greg . His sweet sweet spirit and soul and his kind heart . If I hadn’t seen in in months we would pick up where we left off . He was that kind of friend . He came to my surprise Birthday party last year and it made me so happy . We had planned for me to go stay with him for a weekend at the beach when it warmed up . I’m so sorry I didn’t get to go . He was a Great person and friend and my heart is so saddened . But I will see him again I know . Go fly high Greg and give Ralph a hug . You all can pick up on ur talks and laughs . I’ll be praying for Brian and Meredith during this sad time ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Greg was one of the sweetest men I've ever known. I enjoyed being in the choir with him at Grey Stone. He showed me the ropes in how to place people in our Living Christmas Tree of which I still do today. It is with a sad heart that I write this memory but I smile whenever I think of Greg. My thoughts and prayers go out to you, Meredith and Brian.
