Hilda Kocek

She was born on April 27, 1928 in Minster, Ohio and married the love of her life Joseph E. Kocek on October 8, 1955. She was a secretary at Electro-Motive prior to becoming a homemaker. She loved keeping up on world news and doing jigsaw puzzles. It was amazing to watch how well she organized the puzzle pieces and finished them in such a short period of time. Her favorite board game was Rummikub and she loved playing with family and teaching new people the rules. She was always happy to have company drop by for a visit and chat. She lived a long happy life and will be missed.She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe, on May 2, 2001 and her parents, Rudolph and Anna Katherine (Ahrens) Esser. She was also preceded in death by three brothers and six sisters.

She is survived by two sons, Gregory (Laura) Kocek of Waco, TX and Jeffrey (Paula) Kocek of Shallotte, NC; six grandchildren, Kim (Wes) Swinehart, Melissa (Brian) Flowers, Kurt Kocek, Kyle (Haley) Kocek, Keith (Natalie) Kocek, Katie (Kyle) Reeves; eight great-grandchildren, Paul, Mathilda (Tilly), Maisie, Hazel, Hattie, Wyatt, RaeLynn and Reece.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the American Heart Association. She is being cremated in North Carolina with a later burial in St. Mary’s Immaculate Cemetery, Plainfield, IL
