Inez Jones

She was born in Whiteville NC, in 1943 to Wilbur and Dorothy Kelly. From the time she could talk, she was quick witted, feisty, and always full of laughter. As the oldest of six, she kept her brothers in line, but got up to plenty of mischief. Throughout her life Inez never met a stranger and made friends everywhere she went. She spent many days catching up on all the gossip with her co-workers, telling jokes, and making up songs to any tune you could name. She loved spending time in the yard, tending her garden, and sewing anything you asked her to make. She met a dashing young man, Billy Jones and soon they were married. Billy and Inez built a life together in Ash NC., having three children Barbara, Vickey, and Mitchell. She always had a house full of people and entertained them with her stories, jokes, and amazing home cooking.

She was predeceased by her husband Billy Gladson Jones, brothers Buddy Kelly and Kenneth Kelly. She is survived by her children Barbara McLeod and husband Mark of Alexandria VA, Vickey Burns and husband Rich of Ash NC, and Mitchell Jones and wife Julie of Clover SC. Her grandchildren Chris Phelps and husband Matt of Marion SC, and Josh Phelps, active-duty US Navy. She is also survived by her brothers Terris Kelly and wife Sue of Elizabethtown NC., Jackie Kelly of Colfax NC., and Barry Kelly of Kernersville NC.

The family will receive friends on Monday June 26, 2023 from six o’clock to eight o’clock pm at White Funeral and Cremation Service 3660 Express Drive Shallotte NC, and other times from the residence.

A Celebration of life will be held Tuesday June 27th, 2023, in the Lou White Memorial Chapel in Shallotte at two o’clock pm. Interment will follow in the Griffin Cemetery.

Inez’s wishes were that you always smile, laugh as often as you can and be kind to one another.
