

James Daniel Calloway, age 72, passed away on May 29, 2026. Born July 23, 1953 in Fort Ord, California to the late Everette Ray and Margaret Gouldman Calloway. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Galloway. Mr. Calloway will be remembered with deep respect and enduring affection by all who knew him.
A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Mr. Calloway carried himself with a gentle steadiness and a quiet wisdom that brought comfort to those around him. Beloved by family and friends, he leaves behind a legacy of care, loyalty, and thoughtful presence that will be long cherished.
Mr. Calloway earned an Associates Degree in Business and later served as a U.S. Marshall. He also obtained a contractor's license and electrical license. In his personal time, he was an avid and very talented golfer and enjoyed gardening—pursuits that reflected both patience and a calm appreciation for the days well spent.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Calloway of the home; a son, Mike Calloway and wife Christine of Michigan; a daughter, Julie Calloway Bryant of Rockingham, N.C.; grandchildren, Jimmy, Randy, Damon and Mercedies; a brother, Richard Calloway and wife Janet of Greenville, N.C.; a sister, Debbie Funderburke of Kannapolis, N.C., nephew, Cory Calloway; and a niece, Stacey Calloway.
