OCEAN ISLE BEACH, NC - Jessica Scottfenton (Perrone), 75, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on February 19, 2026. A women of boundless kindness and quiet strength, Jessica was the heart of her home and a healer to everyone she met.
A life of Resilience and Devotion:
Born in Clinton on October 10, 1950, Jessica was the eldest child of the late Angelo and Edith (Ryll) Perrone. Her early life was marked by profound tragedy when, at just 16 years old, she lost her mother, Edith, and her brother, Peter in an automobile accident. She later navigated the loss of her sister, Nancy, who succumbed to a lifelong birth ailment. Through these trials, Jessica and her father, Angelo, formed an unbreakable bond; they remained inseparable until his passing in 2007.
A Healer’s Heart:
Jessica’s natural instinct to care for others led her to a distinguished 40+ year career in nursing. To her patients, she was a source of steady grace; to her family, she was the resident healer who handled every ailment with a compassionate heart and an expert hand. She was truly a beautiful soul who showed kindness, grace, and love to everyone she met.
Family - Her Greatest Joy:
In 1971, Jessica married Owen McNamara, and together they raised three sons: Peter, Paul and Mark. Her three boys remained the absolute loves of her life. Throughout her life’s journey, she was also blessed with the unwavering friendship of her sister-in-law and lifelong friend, Anne (McNamara) Mayberry.
On March 22, 1985, Jessica began a beautiful second chapter when she married Michael Scottfenton of Fitchburg. Together, they spent thirty five years building their love and lives in Shrewsbury, MA, before moving in 2020 to enjoy their retirement in Ocean Isle Beach, NC. Though she loved her life and the wonderful new friends that she made by the coast, her heart was never far from home; at the time of her passing, she was eagerly preparing to return to Massachusetts to meet her first great-granddaughter just two weeks after her birth.
Her Legacy - Jessica’s legacy lives on through the family she nurtured with such devotion:
