Ms. Denton was born November 4, 1941 in Flushing, New York, daughter of the late Michael Touhey and Marjorie Dick Touhey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by nephews Skip and Bobbie Smart and niece, Laura Smart.
Judy enjoyed an extensive career in advertising and publishing. She began her advertising career in New York, then continued in Charleston, SC and Newport Beach, CA. She eventually entered into the Publishing realm as Art Director for two formidable publishers in Washington, DC. Judy was a talented graphic artist as well as a recreational artist, with a flair for pen and ink drawings as well as watercolor art.
Judy was an avid reader and took pleasure in her daily crossword puzzles. She enjoyed travelling in her later years and always treasured her trip to Ireland with her siblings. Perhaps her greatest joy was cooking her legendary meals. Nothing brought her more joy than to cook up spaghetti and meatballs for her family, among many other family favorites! Family meant everything to Judy. She loved and she laughed with each moment spent with family.
Survivors include her children, Susan Pangman and husband Todd of Leland, North Carolina and Ronald Denton and wife Karen of Isle of Palms, South Carolina; brother, Michael Touhey and husband Ron Berry of Rochester, New York; sisters, Patricia Smart and husband Harry of Rochester, New York and Peggy Heuser and husband Hans of Hauppauge, New York; and four grandchildren, Matthew Pangman (wife Erika), Bryce Pangman, Connor Pangman, and Alexandra VanDeventer (husband Jacob).
A private service will be held in New York at a later date.
For many, the decision to place a loved one in another's care or the care of a facility is difficult. Our family was incredibly fortunate to find a place where our mom felt loved and cared for in an unspeakable, beautiful way. The entire staff at Coastal Pointe knew "Miss Judith". From the CNAs to the Med Techs, Kitchen Staff to Receptionist, Office Staff to Activities Director, Maintenance and Cleaning Staff to Salon Staff ... Mom was known by all. They showed their love and support in their own special way and always made sure she was well taken care of. We are forever grateful to the staff at Coastal Pointe Assisted Living, as well as the amazing staff of Amedisys Hospice Care.
