Judith Sherlyn "Judy" Wilson, 78, of Supply went home to be with her Lord, her beloved family by her side, on Tuesday, February 10, 2026,following a courageous battle with cancer. Always a woman of true strength, it was no surprise that she inspired all of those who knew her and every person that she met along the way with her incredible spirit and unwavering faith which never faltered.
Judy was born in Indiana on February 22, 1947, daughter of the late
Sidney Farney and Maude Wickiser Farney. Following her midwestern childhood, she moved to Arizona where she was swept off of her feet by the love of her life, George Wilson, Jr. Legend has it that she cast a mighty powerful spell of her own right back over him, and the two soulmates were soon married. Together, they embarked on the adventure of their lifetime, an amazing journey that spanned 58 years of marriage, during which they
raised their family with great pride, created lasting memories, and had the honor of watching that family expand into a beautiful legacy of love. Along the way, as a team, they captained a well respected business that reflected their values rooted in family, tradition, and community.
It was well known by all who knew and loved Judy that she was the
woman to talk to if you wanted the scoop on any season of “Survivor.” She was a super-fan and, we think it would make her proud to say something of an expert on Survivor strategy and gameplay. She adored snuggle time with her beloved Yorkie, Buster, who no doubt was among those who met her at the gates of Heaven to escort her in. Professional landscapers had nothing on Judy; if you know her, you have a vivid picture of her in your
mind, zipping around on her riding lawn mower, taking care of her family’s yards, completely in her element. For her, landscaping was relaxation and meditation, though she could do the work of five men and barely break a sweat, making it look easy. Most importantly, her greatest joy was traveling up and down the East Coast, sitting close to the field, cheering on her beloved grandchildren in the family’s shared passion of baseball. Baseball
days watching her favorite players with pride were always among the best days.
Judy was a woman of incredible faith, and to hear her speak of the things she believed in was to be inspired. The ‘mother’s heart’ in her was genuine and true; of her many gifts was the ability to make the people around her feel seen, loved, cared for, welcomed openly. Judy was one to shrug off concern for herself to make more time and space to care for others. She was a devoted friend to many. She will be dearly missed in so many circles because while beautifully humble in spirit, her presence and the mark that
she left were tremendous in scope. In addition to her parents, Judy was preceded in death by her brother, Russell Farney, Sr.
Survivors include her beloved husband, George Crawford Wilson, Jr of the home; the legacy of their love includes children, George "Jeep" Wilson, III and wife Belinda of Supply, Raymond Wilson and wife Melissa of Supply; grandchildren, George "Jeepie" Wilson IV, Brycen Wilson, Cooper Wilson, and Wesley Wilson; Olivia Wilson VanSteen and great grandchildren, Madeline, Camden, and Hulan.
A gathering will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026 from twelve
o'clock in the afternoon until two o'clock in the afternoon at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church.
A reception following the church service will be held in the home of
Raymond and Melissa Wilson at 1381 Dove Drive, SW; Supply, NC 28462.
