Mrs. Galloway was born in Brunswick County on October 22, 1945, daughter of the late Roland Fisher Lewis and Lydia Pearl Arnold Lewis. She was a member of Dixon Chapel Methodist Church where she served as Treasurer for 45 years. She and her husband Gary owned and operated Lockwood Folly Seafood for 10 years. For many years she worked in the tax preparation business, beginning her career at Blanton’s Tax Service in Supply, later moving to Walton’s Tax Service in Winnabow, and finishing her career at The Tax Ladies in Shallotte, where she worked for over 30 years. She served as Mayor of Varnamtown for 30 years, 15 terms. In 2023, she was awarded The Order of the Long Leaf Pine for her years of voluntary service to the town.
Survivors include her husband, Gary Ross Galloway, Sr. of the home; son, Gary Ross Galloway, Jr. and wife Cindy of Varnamtown; daughter, Lavinia Ann Lockamy and husband Lane of Oak Island; grandchildren, Lindsey Galloway, Kacey Gore and husband Kevin, Alana Lockamy, and Sarah Lockamy; two great grandchildren, Hazel Grace Gore and Hattie Lynn Gore; two brothers, Lester Lewis and wife Mary Alice of Winnabow and Dennis Lee Lewis and wife Patsy of Winnabow.
She will be remembered for the love she showed and gave to her family, friends, church, and community.
Funeral services will be Sunday, August 13, 2023 at three o’clock in the afternoon at Dixon Chapel Methodist Church with Reverend Bill Negron and Reverend J.B. Kennedy officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Tony Lewis, Jason Lee Lewis, Louie Lewis, Jr, Mark Galloway, Terrance Galloway, and Darron Edens. Honorary pallbearers will be Hubert Varnam, Jr. and Danny Champion.
The family will receive friends Saturday, August 12, 2023 from six o’clock until eight o’clock at White Funeral and Cremation Service, 3660 Express Drive, Shallotte, North Carolina.
