

Julia was born in Brunswick County on August 5, 1938 and was the daughter of the late Reverend Norman Curtis Bellamy and Iona Hewett Bellamy. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lee Roy Hayes, Sr., three sisters, Jo Ann Simmons, Pinta Todd and Quintina Skipper. Ms. Hayes work with the Brunswick County Tax office for many years and the was appointed as the first female Veterans Affairs Officer in Brunswick County where she retired. She was an avid golfer and enjoyed gardening, quilting. She loved working at the fish house.
She is survived by four children, Rhonda Steed, Lee Roy "L.R." Hayes, Jr. and wife Sherri, John Dadent Hayes and wife Penny, Norman Travis Hayes and wife Amanda all of Supply; grandchildren, Brandon, Susan, Darden, Joshua, Jessica, Noah, Landen and Olivia; great-grandchildren, D.J., Destiny and Danielle; a sister, Bonnett Fortiscue of Supply.
Visitation will be held at White Funeral and Cremation Service, 4690 East Coast Lane, Shallotte, NC, on Tuesday June 30, 2026, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
A Funeral Service will take place at White Funeral and Cremation Service, Lou Ellen White Memorial Chapel, 4690 East Coast Lane, Shallotte, NC, on Wednesday July 1, 2026, at 11:00 am.
Interment will be at Sabbath Home Baptist Church Cemetery.
