Born May 27, 1972, Lauren grew up in Ocean Isle Beach, NC. She is the daughter of the late Willis Carr Sellars, Jr. and Priscilla Howell Sellars. As a youth she enjoyed dancing, cheerleading, and being part of the GFWC-SBI Jr. Women’s Club. She was known for her sense of fashion and always dressed to impress. Lauren was recognized as the “Prissy Cousin”; you’d never see her without her hair, makeup or nails done to perfection.
When Lauren entered the working world, she began at Kids Connection, sharing her love with all the children she came into contact. In addition, she also worked at Dockside in Calabash for many years. Lauren created multiple lifelong friendships during these stages of her life. After graduating from UNCW, she eventually landed a career as a Recreational Therapist and was recently employed at the Legacy of North Myrtle Beach, SC. This seemed to be a perfect fit for her fun-loving disposition as Lauren loved to laugh, play games, sing and do pretty much anything to put a smile on your face.
Everyone that knew Lauren recognized her love of God and her deep-rooted faith. She was devoted to reading daily scriptures and devotionals. This would get her through the tough times in life, and she always enjoyed sharing this as her secret to true happiness.
Later in life she came to work beside Chris Marcin who eventually became her best friend and husband. They shared their love of cooking, nature, travel and pretty much anything that allowed them to spend time together. After seeing them side by side you knew they shared a pure and honest love for each other. Lauren will be remembered by her generous and loving nature. She loved with her whole heart and all that knew her could only return that love in the same fashion.
She is survived by her husband, Christopher Marcin, her brother Michael Sellars and wife Crystal. In addition, she leaves behind four loving aunts, Susan, Janis, Teresa, and Renee; several cousins; and additional family members and friends. Two special friends Shelley and Melanie were considered her bonus sisters.
Funeral services will be Friday, July 24, 2026, at three o'clock in the afternoon at Sharon Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
