Lumina was born in Columbus County on October 23, 1938 to the late Reverend Harvey Lay Smith and Irene Gore Smith. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death her two sisters, Wilhelmina Smith Cox of Tabor City (Dothan) N.C. and Annell Smith Brindell of Wilmington, N.C.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years Jackie (Jack) Wayne Soles of the home, and a daughter Angela (Angie) Leigh Soles of Little River, S.C. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and cousins who will miss her dearly.
Lumina was retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture after 31 years of service. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Shallotte for more than 40 years and served in many different roles, including treasurer for 17 years, choir member and as a long time prayer warrior.
The family will receive friends Monday October 9, 2023 at Calvary Baptist Church from one o'clock until two o'clock followed by a Celebration of Life Service officiated by Pastor Joe Needham. Burial will follow at Olyphic Baptist Church Cemetery, 19062 Seven Creeks Highway, Tabor City,
Pallbearers will be, William C. "Cleve" Cox IV, Wayne Murray, Erik Spivey, Jon-Kelly Rabon, Nick Ward and Andrew Scott.
