Marian Mercer

Born June 27, 1963, Marian was the daughter of the late Garvin Marion Mercer and Myra Louise Price, and grew up in Brunswick County where she spent most of her life. A woman of steady devotion and faithful purpose, Marian carried herself with a kind heart and determined work ethic. She was deeply cherished, and her presence—so often marked by warmth and good humor—left people feeling seen, welcomed, and grateful.

Marian worked for 37 years as a graphic artist with Atlantic Corporation, a long and distinguished career that reflected her diligence, reliability, and pride in doing things well, until her recent retirement. Her commitment to others extended well beyond the workplace. Marian served as a Mary Kay Representative for 15 years. She gave her time and leadership as a member of the Bolivia Fire Department Board of Directors, as Treasurer of Bolivia United Methodist Church, as a member of the Planning Board for the Town of Bolivia, and as Treasurer of the David R. Mercer Cemetery Foundation—roles that spoke to her faithful service and the trust placed in her by the community.

Those who knew Marian will remember a ray of sunshine who brought joy wherever she went, with a smile bright enough to light a room. Marian was a friend to all who were blessed to have known her, and her legacy will be carried forward in the kindness she offered so freely and the laughter she so naturally shared.

Survivors include her daughter, April Harris and husband Josh of Reidsville, North Carolina; sister, Kimberly Newman and husband Joe of Winnabow; significant other, Garey Tryon of Bolivia; three grandchildren, whom she adored, Austin, Kaleb, and Wesley; two bonus granddaughters (Garey's granddaughters) Hannah and Breeanna; and her loyal and faithful canine companion Luna.

Friends and family are invited to White Funeral and Cremation Service, 4690 East Coast Lane Shallotte, North Carolina on October 11, 2026 at three o’clock in the afternoon to celebrate the beautiful life she lived. In honor of Marian, the family requests everyone please wear any shade of the color pink. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
