Mr. Fulks was born February 20, 1968 in Norton, Virginia, son of Ronnie Myrle Fulks and Linda Profitt Fulks. He grew up in Norton, surrounded by family, including his parents, his younger sister, Crystal, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He attended school there, graduating from John I. Burton High School in 1986. From there, he moved to Atlanta where he eventually worked in admissions at Piedmont Hospital.
While in Atlanta, Mike met his wife, Dawn, and they were married on October 14, 2000 in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. The couple eventually moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, where Mike began working for Wackenhut Security Services (now Allied Universal) in May of 2001. Mike remained with the company through mergers and acquisitions, serving in a number of different roles, including as General Manager of the Raleigh Regional Office and as an Enterprise Account Manager. Mike was very proud of his work and was still employed with the company at the time of his death.
He and his wife moved to Sunset Beach a few years ago, where they enjoyed the sunshine, golfing, and going down to the beach. He was a huge Florida Gators football fan, especially when they played Tennessee. He enjoyed watching movies, especially romantic comedies, although he never would have admitted that. His family and friends meant the world to him and he loved them all dearly.
Survivors include his wife Dawn Fulks of Sunset Beach, North Carolina; his parents, Ronnie and Linda Fulks of Norton, Virginia; sister Crystal (Brian) Jenkins of Norton, Virginia; mother-in-law Arelene McLaren of Atlantic, Iowa; and brother-in-law Tom (Sacha) McLaren of Atlantic, Iowa; nieces and nephews Cameron (Brianna) Jenkins of Kingsport, Tennessee; Kevin (Montana) Jenkins of Castlewood, Virginia; Josh (Emily) McLaren of Atlantic, Iowa; Donald (Lacee) McLaren of Fort Dodge, Iowa; Michelle (Jeremy) Blake of Atlantic, Iowa; Logan Steffens (Lauren Krogman) of North Liberty, Iowa; and Bailey Steffens (Joel Villagran) of Atlantic, Iowa; great-nieces and nephews Madelyn Jenkins, Jackson, Gavin, Benny, Haylee and Kynlee McLaren, Stella and Decker Blake, and Wolf Villagran, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
