Dick was born May 5, 1947 in LaGrange, Illinois to Norman and Margaret Dunteman. He graduated from Lyons Township High School in 1965 and completed degrees from General Motors Institute (G.M.I.), Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.), and the University of Chicago. While attending General Motors Institute in Flint, Michigan, he met and married the love of his life, Brenda L. House (Dunteman). During their 53 year marriage, they raised four children: Robert, Michael, Thomas, and Deborah. Dick worked as an engineer for 35 years at Electro-Motive Division, the locomotive branch of General Motors, in LaGrange, IL and London, ON before retiring in 2001. After retirement, they relocated from the Chicago suburbs to Shallotte, North Carolina to enjoy more pleasant weather and Dick’s favorite pastime: golf. When he wasn’t playing, practicing, or watching golf, Dick was active in the church, especially in the choir where he loved to sing.
Dick is survived by his wife Brenda; children, Robert, Michael (Amanda), Thomas (Jess), and Deborah; and grandchildren, Lucas, Alexander, Theodore, and Charles.
A private burial for the family will be held in the upcoming week.
