Petra Byrd

Petra was born April 27, 1964 in Germany, daughter of Annalie Dinkhaus and the late Herbert Ressmann. She grew up in Germany until she moved to the United States thirty years ago. After retiring from Truist Bank in 2023, she enjoyed spending time with her husband Glen traveling, boating, and fishing. Petra had an outgoing, explosive personality and loved everyone. She was known as a caregiver, always making sure no one needed anything and would be there at any time.

In addition to her mother, Petra is survived by her loving husband, Glen Byrd of the home; son, David Hoover of Mooresville; brother, Michael Ressmann and wife Gabi of Germany; niece, Christine also of Germany; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and loyal friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at eleven o'clock in the morning at White Funeral and Cremation Service, 4690 East Coast Lane, Shallotte, North Carolina.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
