Ralph Lee Price Jr. went to his heavenly home with his Lord and Savior on Friday, March 20th, following several years of health struggles after being diagnosed with leukemia in 2022. His family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at the UNC Hospitals at Chapel Hill who contributed to his treatment and care throughout that time, particularly those in the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit.
Ralph was raised in Brunswick County, North Carolina and attended college at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. He retired after more than 35 years of working for the USDA in the ASCS and later, Farm Service Agency divisions. He had a deep affection for the opportunity his work afforded him to get to know the land and the people all across the state of North Carolina. He loved helping teenagers to serve their community and to know Jesus, which he facilitated through various churches he attended over the decades. He was a dedicated husband, father, and grandpa (Buddy), and enjoyed spending time with his family in the small moments as well as great occasions.
Ralph is survived by his wife of 45 years, Beverly, of Clayton, NC, their three children, Adam Price of Wilmington, NC, Hannah Jennings of Bolivia, NC, and Rebekah Barbee, of Boone, NC, and grandson Phillip Jennings, as well as his sister, Betty Faulk, brothers, Bill and Jim Price, and many nephews and nieces.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 24th, from 6:30-7:30pm at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 2919 Galloway Rd. NE, Bolivia, NC 28422.
A visitation and life celebration service will be held on Thursday, March 26th, at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, 3000 E Garner Rd., Raleigh, NC 27610. Visitation begins at 6:00pm, and the service will begin at 6:30.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations in Ralph’s memory to be made to Fort Caswell Camp and Conference Center’s Campus Restoration Fund. Gifts can be made online at https://fortcaswell.com/giving/ or checks can be mailed to Fort Caswell, 100 Caswell Beach Rd., Oak Island, NC 28465.
