Robert Earl "Hollis" Smith

Mr. Smith was born in Brunswick County on June 22, 1935 and was the son of the late Purvis Dewey Smith and Lola White Smith. He was a retired farmer and a U.S. Air Force Veteran. In addition to farming Hollis owned and operated a construction business and was a commercial fisherman catching spots and mullets.Hollis was very active in the Brunswick County Republican Party. He was preceded in death by his wife, Melva Jane Smith.

He is survived by two children, Tammy Smith Abel of Ocean Isle Beach and Kerry Smith and wife Kay of Supply; grandchildren, Wesley Abel, Kassi Grainger, Taylor Smith and Michelle Bellamy; great grandchildren, Ruby Grainger, Kristen Abel and Ronnie Jacob Abel; great-great grandchild, Kadence Abel; a sister, Helen Smith Bellamy of Ash; two nieces, Teah Osborne and Vickie Genwright; his caregiver and someone he considered like a son, Scotty Roberts of Ocean Isle Beach.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday July 22, 2026 at eleven o'clock in the morning at White Funeral and Cremation Service Lou Ellen White Memorial Chapel, 4690 East Coast Lane, Shallotte. Burial will follow in the Mintz Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be, Taylor Smith, Scotty Roberts, Mike Bransfield, Brandon Waddell, David Gilley and Kelly Holden.

The family will receive friends on at White Funeral and Cremation Service, Shallotte Chapel Tuesday evening July 21, 2026 from

six o'clock until eight o'clock.
