He was born in Whiteville, NC on February 22, 1970, the son of David and Debbie Gales of Shallotte.
“Capt. Rog” was a devoted family man, as well as an avid fisherman and shrimper. He was affiliated with The International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 25 as a Boatman for many years. He was a Charter Captain with Capt. Brant’s Fishing Adventures and Ollie Raja Charters. He was always smiling and would light up the room with his laughter, and was always willing to help anyone that needed it. Roger never met a stranger and loved life to the fullest, he will truly be missed by all that knew and loved him.
Surviving in addition to his parents are his wife, Darla Fox-Gales of the home; a daughter Paisley Gales “his entire world”; a brother, Henry Gales and wife, Kimberly of Shallotte; two sisters, Vanessa Taylor and husband, Trent also of Shallotte and Amy McMullan and husband, Brant of Ocean Isle Beach; twelve special nieces and nephews along with a host of family and many friends.
A celebration of his life will be held at six o’clock in afternoon on Thursday October 25, 2018 at United Vision Pentecostal Church by Reverend Maurice Milligan and Reverend Landis Lancaster officiating, with a reception following the services in the Fellowship Hall at the church.
There will be a time of visitation from four to six o’clock prior to the services at the Church.
