Stella was born January 18m 1926, the only child of the late George and Josephine Bower in Hillside, Kansas. Stella earned a B.S. Degree in Education from Kansas University.
In 1947 Stella was married to Samuel Webb Brecheisen in Paola, Kansas, thus beginning the frequent moves necessitated by Sam's service first in the United States Navy and then his employment with the National Park Service. Their many homes included Norfolk, VA; Monte Vista, CA; Whidbey Island, WA; Ewa Beach, Oahu, Hawaii; Yosemite National Park, CA; Arco (Craters of the Moon), Idaho; Vancouver, WA; Berlin, MD; and Hyde Park, NY.
Stella always created a loving home and made lasting friendships in their many locales.
Upon Sam's retirement from the National Park Service and Stella's retirement from AT&T, they relocated to CArolina Shores, NC, where they spent many happy years enjoying and entertaining family and friends. They were very active and involved in Calabash Presbyterian Church.
Stella was preceded in death by her husband Sam in 2005. She is survived by sons, Randolph G. Brecheisen and wife Sylvia of Sunset Beach, NC and Rodney G. Brecheisen of Houston, TX. She was a proud grandmother to Amy Brecheisen Fear and husband Steve; Zachary R. Brecheisen, Lindsay K. Brecheisen, and Nicholas S. Brechsiesn.
Stella embraced a life filled with love, joy, optimism, and adventure, and left this world a better place for those she leaves behind. We'll miss you, Grammy.
