Steve Mooney

Mr. Mooney was born October 25, 1952 in Brunswick County, son of the late Elmer Talmadge and Clossie Phelps Mooney. Growing up in Brunswick County he spent a lifetime doing what he loved; working on our beautiful ocean where he was a commercial fisherman. Working on outboard motors of any age brought him great joy. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially the golf cart rides with the grandchildren eating popsicles. He was a loving father and PaPa and his smile could light up a room. Most people knew he was a handyman but also loved loved plants and watching birds especially if he had his favorite Dt. Sun Drop in his hand. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Robin Hauser Mooney, two brothers, and seven sisters.

Survivors include his children, Janet Clemmons and spouse Tracy of Calabash and Jennifer Coleman and spouse Turner of Shallotte; four grandchildren; Chandler Lovett, Turner Coleman, II, Emma Coleman, and William Coleman; one sister, Lora Faye Mooney Clemmons of Shallotte; and several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at Eastside Fellowship in Shallotte, North Carolina, on August 19, 2026, at 11:00 am.
