Thomas Edward O’Neil, 77, of Calabash, North Carolina, passed away on October 3, 2026. Born on July 29, 1949, he lived a life marked by steadfast devotion to those he loved and a quiet bravery that showed itself in the way he met each season of life with resolve and purpose.
A United States Army Veteran until his retirement, Thomas carried forward a deep sense of duty that continued to shape his life beyond military service. He later served as Director of Worldwide Business Development for IBM, bringing the same disciplined commitment and determined spirit to his professional work.
Away from work, Thomas found joy in the outdoors and in the pursuits that let him feel most alive. An avid hunter—especially in Africa and Argentina—he also enjoyed bird hunting, boating, and playing golf, embracing time spent under open skies and in the company of friends and family.
Survivors include his wife, Tamara Black O'Neil of Calabash; two children, Thomas Richard "Tommy" O'Neil and wife Kelly of Virginia, and Kimberly Lynn Basham of South Carolina; 1 brother, Kevin Patrick O'Neil and wife Gail of Connecticut; 2 sisters, Nora Frances Boothroyd of Connecticut and Kathleen Mary O'Neil of Connecticut; three grandchildren, Scott Pierce, Brittany Miller and husband David, and Lilly O'Neil; several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
A private celebration will be held at a later date at the clubhouse in Brunswick Plantation.
