Mr. Clemmons was born in Brunswick County on March 7, 1943, son of the late Melvin and Dorothy Hewett Clemmons. He retired from the dredge boat industry after 43 years. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Mooney Clemmons, step-son, William Dean Hewett, grandchild, Howard "Scoot" Hilburn, three sisters, Irene Boyer, Etha Mae Moore, and Gail Lovett.
Survivors include his step-son, Timothy Michael Hewett of Shallotte; step-daughter, Shelly D. Hewett of Bladenboro; two brothers, James Earl Clemmons of Supply and R. A. Clemmons and wife Lora of Supply; two sisters, Wanda Gay of Shallotte and Faye Sellers of Supply; four grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
No services will be held.
