

Albert John Joseph Schutte of Sharonville, OH died March 29th 2014 at Bethesda Hospital in Montgomery, OH. He was born December 10th 1922 to Albert and Amelia(Gerling) Schutte on their farm in Sharonville. After graduation from the Machine Shop Mechanical Vocational School, he worked briefly at Wright Aeronautical in Lockland, making engines for the new B-29 Superfortress. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps in February 1943 and spent 31 months with the famous Billy Mitchell Group of the 58th Bombardment Wing as a B-29 Armament Specialist. Albert was assigned to Salina, KS, Kharagpur, India, and Tinian Island. Albert was on Tinian Island when the Enola Gay flew on its famous mission to Hiroshima. He was discharged in November 1945. During his military career, Albert was awarded five Bronze Service Stars in addition to a Good Conduct Medal. The Billy Mitchell Group received four Presidential Unit Citations during his time with the Group. In 1946, Albert met and married his beloved wife of 67 years, Vivian (Engel) Schutte. He leaves five children: Kris (Tim) Haap, Alan (Nancy) Schutte, Lynn (Jerry) Barrow, Jayne (Harry) Wilder, Nancy (Mark) Marshall, 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Albert spent his entire career in the electroplating industry, mostly with Autolite in Sharonville and Krauth and Beninghofen in Hamilton. He enjoyed reading, eating, puttering around the house, and having a good time with his friends and family (which usually involved a deck of cards). He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Robert Schutte of Mason, OH, and his sisters, Alma Taft of Dania, FL and Edna Moodie of Cincinnati. Memorial gathering at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, Reading, OH, Friday, April 4 from 9:00–9:45am. Memorial Mass to follow at 10:00am. Burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
