Irene Whitaker Riebold Gabriel

Irene Whitaker Gabriel (nee Riebold), a resident of Brookwood Retirement Community since 2001, in Cincinnati, OH. Beloved wife of the late Harry Whitaker who she met in WWII and the late Edward Gabriel. Devoted mother of Mary (Gary) Bourgraf, stepmother of Edna and the late Jack Soete, Bobbi (Joe) Vonderschmidt, Bill and the late Anne Marie Grimes, Pat and the late Joe Gabriel, and the late Ruth Alice and George Cummins. Cherished grandmother, aunt, and friend to many. A long time resident of Dayton, Ohio, Irene was very proud of her service as an Army nurse in WWII. She loved her nursing career and was fond of caring for people and gardens. Her quick wit, wisdom, and humor will be remembered by many. Sept. 19, 2010, at age 97.
