Mary Anna Kolb
January 28, 1928 – June 11, 2018
Mary Anna Kolb of Sharonville, Ohio, age 90, passed away Monday, June 11, 2018 at her residence. She was born January 28, 1928, near Uniontown, Kansas, the daughter of Billy E. and Letha Agnes Williams (Williamson).
Mary Anna was married on July 2, 1949, in Jefferson City, MO to Herbert A. Kolb who preceded her in death on July 20, 2017.
Her father’s employment with the Shell Oil Company pipeline crew meant frequent moves throughout her childhood. She attended high school for a time at Prairie Home, MO, and St. Charles, MO. She graduated from East Alton – Wood River (Illinois) Community High School in 1945. While in her senior year she entered a violin competition and was awarded a four-year scholarship to Illinois Wesleyan College. However, she was unable to attend due to family finances. Her love of music remained and she continued to play the violin and played the organ for the church choir at St. Clement, MO, for several years.
After graduation from high school she went to work for Exchange National Bank in Jefferson City and her co-worker, Charles Kolb, introduced her to his brother Herbert, whom she married. They moved to St. Louis for Herb’s job with Continental Oil Company (Conoco) and in 1955 they bought out a Conoco oil jobber in Bowling Green, MO. Over the next 23 years in Bowling Green they raised four sons and enjoyed the monthly M & G dance club, playing cards with friends, taking cruises and family vacations. They were enthusiastic supporters of their sons’ sports and school activities. Mary Anna was recognized as the “Outstanding Young Woman” of the Bowling Green Jaycee Wives in 1962.
After selling their business in 1978, they moved to Jefferson City where they lived for a number of years until retirement when they moved to Hot Springs Village, Arkansas. In 2003, they moved to Evendale, OH to be near their son Mike and his family.
Mary Anna is survived by her four sons: Rick (Kathy) of Jefferson City; Dan (Jeanie) of Longmeadow, MA; Mike (Karen) of Evendale; and Bill (Heriberto Quinones) of Dallas, TX; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Also, her brother, Don Williams of Boonville, MO and sisters-in-law Mary Anne Kolb and Ann Kolb of Jefferson City as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Virginia Campbell (Don) and her infant granddaughter, Jennifer Kolb, and Herb’s siblings: James (Betty Ann), Cletus (Margaret), Charles, Paul (Carmen), Grace Mary Vignola (Carmine), Irma Mae Schleer (Paul “Juggy”), and Robert.
Visitation Friday, June 15, 2018 from 9:00AM – 9:45AM at St. Michael’s Church, 11144 Spinner Ave., Sharonville, OH 45241 with Mass of Christian Burial for immediate family to follow. I just got the notice that your Mom passed away. Immediately I had flash backs to so many great times with her and her wonderful family. I would consider your entire family as great friends that I enjoyed so much being around. I have partied with your Mom and Dad so many times and with that came laughter and some of my most fondest times of my life. Love you Mom so much! She was beautiful outwardly and in her spirit. Please accept my deepest sympathy and I feel a real sadness right now. One of the most valuable gifts she made to my life was her music, her wonderful sons.and accepting me as part of your family. Blessing sent to all of you and know that all of you are blessed to have her as MOM and grandmother.

Thanks to all for sharing the warm thoughts and helping celebrate Mom's life! It's evident from the last week in sharing memories and pictures and thoughts about Mom and Dad that they lived a blessed full life! Thank you Lee and Larry for your special comments above. Thanks Lord for making me so lucky to have them as parents. God bless all who have given them so much love and support even when they may not have fully known or recognized it.

Dear Kolb brothers and family, what a beautiful picture that was posted. I know exactly where that was taken and so lucky to have been at Uncle Herb's funeral. What a beautiful person she was and always had the big smile. She hosted a bridal shower for my Cathy 38 years ago. I'm sure there's a Kolb party going on now. Our family also lost an uncle on Monday. Mom's brother, Uncle Curt, was 89 years old.
His funeral is tomorrow. Stay healthy and I'll toast a glass of wine to Aunt Mary Anna tonight. Love you all,Larry
