Charles Theobald

Charles E. Theobald, age 60, of Sheboygan, passed away on Sunday morning, April, 8, 2012, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded and comforted by his family during his last few days. He was born May 10, 1951 in Sheboygan, WI, to Byron and Dorothy Theobald. He was a graduate of Sheboygan South High School, Class of 1969.

Charles graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee in 1974, where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Design. He began his career as an Urban Planner for Donohue & Associates in Sheboygan. As his career progressed he switched his focus from Urban Planning to Sales and Marketing, where he held positions at Donohue, Earth Tech, RUST Environment & Infrastructure, Aero-Metric, and Larson Engineering. He was a member of many professional organizations. Charles served as the Sheboygan County Chamber of Commerce President in 1997. He was also a member of the Solid Waste Association of North America, Wisconsin Wastewater Operator’s Association, American Public Works Association, and the Water Environment Federation.

Charles was a dedicated and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He met the love of his life, Janice Kautzer, while in high school. He and Janice were united in marriage on December 18, 1971. He was an extremely considerate person who always enjoyed helping and taking care of others. He was always the first to offer help when painting needed to be done, someone needed help moving, or a new roof needed to be put on a house. Charles truly enjoyed working on projects around his house and taking care of his yard. He was a hard worker who took pride in everything he did.

Charles always appreciated life and everything it had to offer. He was an avid Packer fan, taking his family to many games throughout the years. He also loved traveling, listening to music, and experiencing new things. Chuck loved to go on family vacations, taking them to the Grand Canyon, Mexico, Oregon, California, and many other destinations. He took great pride in planning them, doing research weeks in advance. Charles became the proud owner of a Harley Davidson. He rode his motorcycle with his wife every chance he could get, taking many day and weekend trips on their bike together. Charles held a special place in his heart for his granddaughter, Taylor. He spent much time with her and often took her to Bookworm Gardens. This became such a special place for them that he dedicated his time to making her a replica of a playhouse from Bookworm Gardens.

In addition to his loving wife, Janice, Charles is survived by a son, Colin Theobald of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, a daughter, Cassie Theobald of Shorewood, Wisconsin; one granddaughter, Taylor Theobald; a sister, Mary (David) Stori of Clyde, North Carolina; a brother, Richard (Barbara) Theobald of Eugene, Oregon, and a brother in-law Jack Willmas of Tijeras, New Mexico. He is also survived by a mother-in-law, many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Byron Theobald, his mother, Dorothy Theobald, and his sister, Nancy Willmas.

A celebration of Chuck’s life will be held on Wednesday, April 11th, 2012 at Ballhorn Funeral Chapels from 4:00 p.m. until 7: p.m.

Private family committal services will be held on the family lot at Sheboygan Falls Cemetery.

Chuck, you will be in our hearts and thoughts everyday.

In lieu of flowers, a Memorial Fund has been established in Chuck’s name with donations being given to Bookworm Gardens.

Ballhorn Chapels is assisting the family.
