Harold was born December 5, 1924 in Sheboygan to Michael and Ella (Bartelt) Chvarak. He was a graduate of Sheboygan Central High School, Class of 1943. He then honorably served his country in the US Navy.
On November 9, 1946 Harold and Arlisle Hermann were united in marriage at St. John Evangelical and Reformed Church. She preceded him in death on March 29, 2012.
For a time Harold worked at North Side Auto Parts before beginning employment at Morning Glory Dairy as a home delivery milkman. He retired as an agent for Met Life.
Following retirement, Harold drove school bus and served as custodian at Christ Lutheran Church where he was actively involved in the church. He also helped his wife, Arlisle, in the delivery of her Avon products. He was currently a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
In his early years Harold was a Cub Scout leader and was actively involved in the Accents and the Top Hats marching units with his children.
He loved to fish, pitch horseshoes, and was a league bowler for over 50 years. Harold was extremely proud to have rolled a 299 at the age of 76!
Harold is survived by six children, Steve (Insuk) Chvarak of Columbia, SC, Anthony (Linda) Chvarak of Naples, FL, Michael (friend, Kathy Barry) of Howards Grove, WI, Jerome (Marna) Chvarak of Gilbert, AZ, Nancy (friend, John Proue) Chvarak and James (Debbie) Chvarak all of Sheboygan; twelve grandchildren, Kathy (Steve) Cady, Pamela (Michael) McCarter, Kimberly (Mac) McQuillin, Angela Chvarak, Jennifer (Dennis) d’Auvergne, Christopher (Amber) Chvarak, Bryan Chvarak, Marrissa Chvarak, Marla (Brian) Allen, Matthew Wilke, Michelle Wilke, and Hunter Chvarak; fifteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents and wife, Arlisle, Harold was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Chvarak and his granddaughter, Nicole Chvarak.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 24, 2012 at Ballhorn Chapels and Crematory. Rev. Christian Gugel, Pastor of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, will officiate. A time of visitation and support will be held from 12 Noon until the time of service. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established in his name.
Harold will always be remembered for his dry sense of humor,
the many stories he told, and his signature stogie.
