Ida Schilstra

Ida was born March 3, 1908 in Chicago, IL to Richard and Nellie (Fennema) Kingma.

On August 30, 1933 Ida and George Schilstra were united in marriage in Chicago. He preceded her in death on April 15, 1985.

Ida was a former member of First Christian Reformed Church in Sheboygan and most recently a member of the Faith Christian Reformed Church in Elmhurst, IL. She was active member of her church, a member of the Garden Club, and for many years an American Red Cross volunteer.

She is survived by her three daughters, Carol Sorenson of La Jolla, CA, Judith (Alfred) Rispens of Berwyn, IL, and Marcia (John) DeBoer of Naples, FL; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, George, Ida was preceded in death by her nine siblings; and son-in-law Richard Sorenson.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Ida’s name for the First Christian Reformed Church in Sheboygan.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, May 17, 2014 at 11:30am at the Chapel of Eternal Light, 6706 Superior Ave, Kohler, WI 53044. Rev. Larry Meyer of First Christian Reformed Church will officiate. A time of visitation and support will be held at the Chapel of Eternal Light on Saturday from 10:30am until the time of service. Entombment will follow at Gardens of Peace Mausoleum at Greenlawn Cemetery, Kohler, WI.
