
John was born June 17, 1925 in Sheboygan, to William and Margerite (Heins) Kohl.
Following graduation from Sheboygan Central High School, Class of 1943, John served his country in the U.S. Naval Air Corps until the end of the World War II. He then attended Babson College, where he received an Associate Degree in Business.
On May 28, 1949, John and Shirley Jaeger were united in marriage. They moved to Madison, where he continued his education at the University of Wisconsin, there he received a Bachelor of Science Degree. The couple returned to Sheboygan to make their home in the Town of Wilson.
Mr. Kohl joined the Kohler Co. in 1952 where he assisted in the development and promotion of the newly established Engine Division. As director of customer services, he was responsible for world-wide product distributions and service. He retired in 1987.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley, a daughter, Kathryn (Hal) Ribich of Oostburg; four grandchildren, Natalie (Tim) Bergstrom, Jacob Ribich, Anna Ribich and Jonathan Ribich; three great-grandchildren, Ava, Grant and Kieran Bergstrom.
John was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Ann; and sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Alfred Felly.
Mr. Kohl donated his body to the University of Wisconsin – Madison Medical School.
Honoring John’s wishes, private family services will be held.
