Mary Ann was born July 23, 1938 in Sheboygan to Reinhold and Adeline (Braun) Hartig. She was a graduate of Sheboygan Central High School, Class of 1956.
On August 13, 1960 Mary Ann and George Dippold were united in marriage at First United Lutheran Church in Sheboygan. George was a former partner in the CPA firm of Dippold & Associates.
Mary Ann was an active member of the Sheboygan Jaycettes, serving in many capacities, including President and State Director in the 1960’s. Her many talents included various fiber arts. For several years in the late ‘80’s, she enjoyed sharing her hobby of knitting with others in her shop, “Country Knits” at Northgate. The coverlet she wove in honor of her in-laws, Ernst and Hazel Dippold’s 55th wedding anniversary, was awarded Best of Show in 1990 in the Wisconsin Handweavers’ Annual Show in Milwaukee. In 1991, she again won Best of Show with a miniature version of a complete bed ensemble. Mary Ann was a past member of Sheboygan Shuttlecraft Guild and currently a member of the Sheboygan County Quilters Guild.
Mary Ann served in numerous volunteer organizations, among them the Sheboygan County Chapter of the American Red Cross, where she was honored in 1999 with their Volunteer of the Year Award, in 2001 with the Clara Barton Award, and in 2002 by the American Red Cross Wisconsin State Service Council Gwen T. Jackson Award for Excellence in Volunteer Leadership. In 2005, she was awarded the Elks distinguished Citizenship Award by the Sheboygan Elks Lodge #299. Mary Ann served on the local Board of Directors of the Red Cross for six years. Both Mary Ann and George served on numerous assignments with the Disaster Services Human Resources team.
Mary Ann was an active member of First United Lutheran Church, serving as assistant minister, communion server, usher, member of the bell choir, and past Sunday school teacher. She was also a member of the church council and served nine years as recording secretary. Mary Ann enjoyed the years she and George spent with Lutheran Social Services as foster parents for 28 infants.
Mary Ann’s greatest joy, however, was a lifetime of caring for family.
In addition to George, her loving husband of 51 years, Mary Ann is survived by four children and their spouses, and nine grandchildren: Julie and Chuck Sommers, Molly and Charlie of Genoa City, WI; Tom and Paula (Bukowski) Dippold, Katie and George of Inver Grove Heights, MN; Katie and Joel Zimmerman, Tanner and Lydia of Sheboygan; and Jim and Christina (Davis) Dippold, Erma, Ernie and Ray of Trevor, WI. She is further survived by her brother, Richard Hartig of Fort Collins, CO.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, October 21st, at First United Lutheran Church. Rev. Todd W. Smith, Pastor, will officiate. A time of visitation and support will be held at the church on Friday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service.

God and family were most important to Mary Ann, and her ideals will live on in the lives of those who loved her.
