Nyla M. Meier, age 89, of Sheboygan, found peace on Saturday, May 4, 2013 after a short hospice stay at St. Nicholas Hospital. She was born November 20, 1923 in Sheboygan to Arthur and Clara (Eckhardt) Brockman. She attended local schools and was a graduate of Sheboygan North High School, Class of 1941. She furthered her education at Sheboygan County Teacher’s College and began her teaching career at Pigeon River Elementary School. On June 16, 1946 Nyla and Raymond E. Meier were united in marriage at Trinity Lutheran Church. They became charter members of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church where Nyla was a member of the Ladies Guild. The couple enjoyed socializing with their longtime friends. Nyla truly enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, baking, sewing, and entertaining her grandchildren. Raymond preceded Nyla in death on May 15, 2006. She is survived by two daughters, Patricia (Thomas) Dahl of Celebration, Florida and Pamela Grube of Kohler; a son, Parri Meier of Sheboygan; seven grandchildren, Matthew (Liz) Rose, Courtney Dahl, Joshua (Nicole) Grube, Emily (Patrick) Cochran, Jonathan (Tiffany) Grube, Kayla Meier, Darren Meier; six great-grandchildren, Owen, Riley, Lucy, Cora, Elia, and Hazel; and other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Doris Brockman Swaya and her son-in-law, Patrick Grube. Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1614 S. 23rd St. Sheboygan, WI. Rev. Christian F. Gugel, Pastor, will officiate. Entombment will follow at Garden Terrace Mausoleum. A time of visitation and support will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in the name of Nyla M. Meier for Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Her family would like to thank the caregivers at Tender Hearts and St. Nicholas Hospice for their gentle comfort and care. Nyla will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
