

Shirley was born July 12, 1930 in Sheboygan to George and Maud (Vreeke) Brill. She attended Sheboygan Christian Grade School and was a graduate of Sheboygan Central High School, Class of 1948.
On September 22, 1948 Shirley and Philip Oostdyk were united in marriage at First Christian Reformed Church.
Shirley was a faithful member of Bethany Reformed Church. She devoted her life to her family as a wonderful homemaker. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s sporting events as well as reading inspirational books.
In addition to her loving and devoted husband, Phil, she is survived by her children, Michael (Jackie) Oostdyk of Sheboygan, Mark (Kaye) Oostdyk of Stoughton, and LuAnn (Jonathan) Tislau of Sheboygan; her grandchildren, Terry Oostdyk, Nicki(Nels) Higgins, Jason (Jolene) Wilkens, Andy (Piper) Oostdyk, Bill (Ginger) Oostdyk, Heidi (Jamie) DeBruin, Katie (David) Nelson, Jonathan (Natalie) Oostdyk, Anthony Tislau, Andrew (Bevin) Tislau, Ashley (James) Brunmeier, and Alexander Tislau; eighteen great-grandchildren; her sister, Rogene Small of Tucson, AZ; and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Ken Small.
Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon on Friday, December 28, 2012 at Ballhorn Funeral Chapels. Rev. Philip Rose, Pastor of Bethany Reformed Church, will officiate. A time of visitation and support will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Private family entombment will take place at Gardens of Peace Mausoleum.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.
Shirley’s family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Terrace Estates and Aurora VNA for the care and kindness shown to both Shirley and Phil.
