

Virginia was born February 19, 1926 in Sheboygan Falls, the daughter of Peter and Adriana (Potter) Deurloo. She attended Dye Road Elementary School and was a graduate of Sheboygan Falls High School, Class of 1943.
She was previously married to Wade McLaughlin.
On April 9, 1963 Virginia and Richard Zabel were united in marriage. He preceded her in death on July 7, 1992.
Virginia worked at the former Hand Knit Hosiery and later as an elevator operator at H.C. Prange Co. For twenty years she was employed as the housekeeper for the David Garton family.
She was a faithful member of Hope Reformed Church.
Virginia enjoyed working crossword puzzles and playing card games with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Kathleen (Thomas) Nack, Colleen (Jon) Schmidt, Steven (Carol) Zabel all of Sheboygan, Jeffrey (Vicki) McLaughlin and Gregory (Lis Saya) McLaughlin all of Juneau, Alaska; nine grandchildren, Michael McLaughlin, Sarah McLaughlin, Sean McLaughlin, Eric Lemke, Jennifer (Matthew) Nampel, Jamie (Luke) Krepsky, Amy Zabel, Brandon Zabel, and Danielle Zabel; eight great-grandchildren, Anya, Sophia, Nathan, Ellie, Greyson, Maximus, Ava, and Hannah; and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Richard, she was preceded in death by five sisters, Marie Hoftiezer, Helen Huibregtse, Maude Bortz, Jemina Hammes, and Arlene Kortenhorn.
Funeral services will be held at 5:00 p.m. Monday, October 8, 2012 at Ballhorn Chapels & Crematory. Rev. Bill Te Winkle, Pastor of Hope Reformed Church, will officiate. A time of visitation and support will be held at Ballhorn Chapels from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in her name.
Virginia’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Azura Memory Care and Grace Hospice for their loving care and support.
Virginia will always be remembered for the great love
she held for her family who meant the world to her.
