William Hinson

William was born September 13, 1926 in Bishopville, South Carolina to Charlie and Estelle (Hopkins) Hinson.

He attended local schools in Bishopville and in March of 1945 enlisted in the US Army stationed in Europe and in the states. While stationed in Germany he met Elfriede Krautter and they were united in marriage in Columbia, South Carolina on November 4, 1956. After more than twenty years William retired from the US Army in 1965 attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant.

The couple then moved to Sheboygan where William began employment at Borden Chemical. After twenty-seven years he retired as Controls Operator.

William was a faithful member of Christ Lutheran Church. Over the years he enjoyed the outdoors, riding his moped, snowmobiling, and putzing around his house. Above all, he loved spending great times with his grandsons, Jason and Adam.

In addition to his loving wife of fifty-five years, Elfriede, he is survived by his daughter, Janet (Larry) Krueger of Sheboygan; his two grandsons, Jason Krueger (special friend, Tina LaPointe) of Waukesha and Adam Krueger of Sheboygan; three brothers, Wilburn (Caroline) Hinson of Burgaw, North Carolina, Charlie (Betty) Hinson of Lugoff, South Carolina, and Rev. Homer (Peggy) Hinson of Kershaw County, South Carolina; his brother-in-law, Frank Maness of Lugoff, South Carolina; and other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Mildred Maness and Mary Alice McCaskill and brother-in-law, Carl McCaskill.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 27, 2012 at Christ Lutheran Church, 3816 S. 12th Street, Sheboygan. Rev. Dana Loney, Pastor, will officiate. A time of visitation and support will be held Monday at the church from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Entombment with full military honors will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name for Christ Lutheran Church and the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.

William’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Gail for her daily diligence in caring for him. Also special gratitude to the excellent staff at St. Nicholas Hospital Home Health and Hospice, especially Terry R.N. for her extra efforts to her “Wild Willie” and to MaryAnn, R.N. and aides, Melissa, Jaime, Samantha, Irene, and RoseMarie for their dedication and support. You all touched his life and he thought the world of you.

William will always be remembered as a wonderful husband, father,

and grandfather who was loved by all. He will be dearly missed.
