Floyd was born on July 26, 1937, in Shenandoah as the third child of the late George Vernon and Gladys Comer Ferrell. He grew up in Shenandoah, and on July 23, 1960, he married his beloved wife of 64 years, Delores Hackley Ferrell, who survives.
Floyd spent his life in the construction industry. He worked for decades in Northern Virginia before joining Harmon Construction of Harrisonburg. He retired from Harmon Construction in 1999.
Floyd was a member of the Mt. Lebanon Congregational Christian Church and passed away in the assurance of eternal life through Jesus Christ. He devoted much of his time to the church’s needs, particularly any that required maintenance and repair. He also served as a trustee. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting, and in his later years, he enjoyed repairing clocks.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Forrest, Ralph and Guy Lee.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Marcia Robertson and her husband, Steve; a sister, Jean Lucas; and a cousin, Curtis Kite and his daughter, Beth, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends 6-8 pm, tonight, Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at Mt. Lebanon Congregational Christian Church, 1030 Comertown Road, Shenandoah.
A funeral service will be held 11 am, Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at the church, with Rev. Jim Harrison and Rev. Jim Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
