Janette Faye Clark, 83, of Shenandoah passed away in Harrisonburg, Virginia, on June 17, 2026. Born Janette Faye Neal on May 31, 1943, in Charmco, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Page and Myrtle Neal.
Janette graduated from Rupert High School in Rupert, West Virginia in 1961 and married her husband, Burley Clark, on June 24, 1961. She is survived by Burley after 65 years of marriage, who resides in Shenandoah, Virginia.
Janette worked in various retail sales positions. She was Human Resources for Kmart before she retired. She created work schedules for employees by hand before automation. Her most important role in life, however, was as a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Janette loved her family fiercely. She would do anything for the people she loved. She spent her life taking care of others, showing up when people needed her, and loving her family in a way that only she could.
Janette is survived by her daughter, Patricia McGee, granddaughter, Heather McGee, and great granddaughter, Alani McGee. She is also lovingly remembered by Serina Ruiz and Robert (son), dear friends of her granddaughter whom she embraced as her own grandchildren. Janette cared for two brothers, James and Edward Clark (both deceased), until they were adults.
Janette is survived by her brother, Robert Neal, Violet (deceased) and four children, Deborah, Kimberly, Shelly, Rob, and various spouses and grandchildren. She is survived by her brother, Dennis Neal (Gail) and Jennifer. Her brother, Fred Neal (deceased) is survived by Janice and five children, Tony, Mickey, Becky, Christopher, Cynthia, and various spouses and grandchildren.
Janette shared many laughs and adventures with her cousins, June and Mary Lou (deceased). She enjoyed making crafts, shopping, going for long walks, swimming at pools and beaches, and getting lost while driving to various places.
Janette loved going to the beach, especially Ocean City, Maryland. She loved gardening and creating beautiful flower beds. She loved all her dogs, feeding the birds and squirrels and sitting at the pond on a bench with Burley watching the fish, deer and the ducks. In earlier days, she enjoyed tubing down the Shenandoah River, going for nature walks at night, having picnics and roasting marshmallows at the campfire and listening to Burley tell ghost stories. She loved watching the fireworks for July 4th and attending the parades in the local towns. She loved going to the movie theater and attending concerts at local fairgrounds. She was an avid reader and enjoyed being in a book club. A favorite memory was going to the Grand Ole Opry and to Graceland with Burley.
After a long fight that began in November 2025, countless hospital stays, nursing homes, setbacks and moments where the family did not know what tomorrow would bring, her time finally came. Janette is no longer in pain and is at peace. She is finally reunited with her Mom and safely wrapped in her arms.
The family will receive friends and family on Monday, June 29, 2026 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm for a Celebration of Life at the Lindsey-Kyger Funeral Home, 703 Maryland Ave, Shenandoah, VA 22849.
