Sylvia Marie (Lucas) Dovel

Sylvia Marie Lucas Dovel, 76, of Shenandoah passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2019. She was born on August 19, 1942 in Stanley and was the daughter of the late James and Velva Freeze Lucas. Sylvia graduated from Stanley High School and was employed with Pilgrim’s Pride until retiring in 2002. She was a member of First Christian Church and Avis O. Comer VFW Post #8613 Ladies Auxiliary. She is survived by a son, Dwayne Dovel; a daughter, Angela D. Dovel; three grandsons, Christopher and Jimmy Dovel, Nicholas Morris; a granddaughter, Laura Morris all of Shenandoah. On May 5, 1960 she married, Wayne Durwood Dovel, who preceded her in death on October 10, 2009. The family will receive friends 7-8 pm, Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at First Christian Church in Shenandoah. The casket will be closed. A funeral service will be held 1 pm, Thursday, May 16, 2019 at the church with Rev. Jim Perry officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Community Cemetery.
