William "Billy" Ray Hansbrough

William “Bill” Ray Hansbrough, 75, of Atlanta, GA, and formerly of Shenandoah, died on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at Northside Hospital in Atlanta,GA. He had resided in Atlanta for the past five years.
He was born in Shenandoah on January 29, 1935 and was the son of the late Phillip Ray and Emma Belle Pruitt Hansbrough.
Bill graduated from Shenandoah High School and attended Dayton College for two years; he received a Bachelor Business Degree from George Mason University. He also served in the United States National Guard.
Bill enjoyed reading, history, cooking, hiking, and traveling. He worked at NASA in Cape Kennedy, Goodwill Industries in Washington, DC, and retired as a real estate appraiser for the Commonwealth of Virginia.
He is survived by a daughter, Dr. Katherine DeVoille and husband, Jamie of Fayetteville, NC, a grandson, Tony DeVoille who is a Chaplain with the Armed Forces working in Afghanistan, a sister Mary Elizabeth Chenault and husband, Raymond of Atlanta, GA, a brother, Robert L. Hansbrough and wife, Faye of Harrisonburg, one niece and one nephew, and numerous cousins.
The family will receive friends, 10:00-11:00 AM on Friday, September 3, at the Lindsey-Kyger Funeral Home in Shenandoah.
A graveside service will follow at 11:30 AM on Friday at Rest Haven Cemetery in Shenandoah with Rev. Jim Perry officiating.
