Charlene McLaughlin

Charlene Ashby McLaughlin, age 86, of Shepherdsville, passed away with her family by her side on Tuesday, August 26, 2025. She was born in Bullitt County, KY on Monday, August 21, 1939, to the late Charles and Marguerite Ashby.

She was a retired teacher and librarian, starting her career at Butler Traditional High School and then retiring from Bullitt Central High School after 27 years in 1999. She was a Methodist by faith, and a UK basketball fan by choice. She enjoyed traveling all over the world and especially spending time with family and friends. 

Charlene leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Bryan McLaughlin (Michele Civiello) and Melyssa Wadlington (Tim); her brother, Bill Ashby (Polly); her grandchildren, Kayley, Derek, Braeden and Ronan; along with her “Birthday Group Friends”. 

Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, August 30, 2025, in the chapel of Hardy-Close Funeral Home, 285 South Buckman Street in Shepherdsville with burial to follow at Hebron Cemetery. Visitations will be Saturday from 9:00 am until the time of service at 1:00 pm.
